Halfwood Press – Division of Emeralda Works, LLC
In 2004, Seattle printmaker Bill Ritchie designed a stylish miniature version of the professionals’ fine art printing presses used worldwide for printing etchings, engravings, linocuts, and lithographs. Reducing the size and weight of the printing press and using precision machining by the Kughler Company in Ballard, the Halfwood Press performs like presses weighing hundreds of pounds, but only 12 to 100 pounds among the five models. Printmaker chests make for a portable studio for traveling artists, teachers, and kitchen artists. Platemaking innovations and demos number over 400 YouTube archived videos. Bill is making his exit plans and invites other Seattle Made members to make contact.
