Seattle Made Week 2015

The first-ever Seattle Made Week is in the books, and we had a blast! Demos, pop-ups, meet-the-maker events, contests, a fabulous party, and a panel discussion about why it all matters – over 60 events in all! Dozens of producers, manufacturers, shops, and restaurants across the city showcased the huge variety of products made right here in Seattle! Here’s an overview of the highlights…

Seattle Made Tower of Power

Hundreds of Seattle Made products reached for the sky at our Tower of Power exhibit at the super-fun Seattle Mini Maker Faire at EMP Museum/Seattle Center! Take a peek at this 2-minute video to see how the tower was created, and check out our Facebook photo album of all the cool products!

Thanks to Umpqua Bank for sponsoring the Tower, and members SoDo Makerspace and SML for their design/build talents and Ryan Thatcher Photography for his photo and video creation!

Made in Seattle: The Future of Urban Manufacturing

Seattle Made teamed up with Seattle CityClub to present an evening featuring some of Seattle’s most visionary thinkers and companies, sharing how Seattle is realizing its potential as a national innovator in urban manufacturing by re-imagining everything from relationships to materials and capital to space.

Over 120 guests attended and the event was filmed and aired by the Seattle Channel. The evening’s speakers included:

  • Casey Dilloway, COO of Community Sourced Capital, on Re-imagining Capital with their platform and the Seattle Made Matching Loan Fund
  • Sam Farrazaino, Founder of Equinox Studios on how we’re Re-imagining Space
  • Gray Madden, President of Filson on how this Seattle institution is Re-imagining Relationships
  • Ruth True, Nube9 Founder on how we can Re-imagine Materials

Thanks to Umpqua BankUrban Hardwoods, and Whittier Trust for sponsoring this event!

Taste of Seattle Made Party

Over 400 Seattle Made supporters came out to sample delicious treats and drinks – from beer to kimchi – the room was packed, the energy was great, and we topped it all off with a super-fun dance party. Check out these super fun photos from the night … we can’t wait for next year!

Meet-the-Maker Events, Demos and Brewer’s Night

Neighborhood shops, restaurants, and grocery stores hosted hundreds of locally made products throughout the week in all sorts of creative ways. From hands-on activities like needle felting, sampling Seattle-Made beer, or visiting a jewelers studio – to checking out an in-store display of Seattle Made products at a favorite neighborhood boutique – there were loads of ways to get involved!

Many thanks to our sponsors and participating businesses!
